The personification of Rock ‘N’ Roll in Ireland and an act that continues to influence artists worldwide to this day.
Irish Rock ‘n’
Roll Personified
Thin Lizzy are the personification of Rock ‘N’ Roll in Ireland and continue to influence artists worldwide to this day. Their iconic frontman Phil Lynott is ingrained in the history of our own studios, with Apollo Studio being the last place Phil recorded before his death. In 1969, Eric Bell and Eric Wrixon formed Thin Lizzy after seeing Phil Lynott perform in Dublin. The band went on to achieve success with their iconic lineup. Their album ‘Live and Dangerous’ is considered one of the best live albums of all time.
Dublin’s First
Rock ‘n’ Rollers
Thin Lizzy and Phil Lynott paved the way for Irish Rock ‘N’ Roll music in the 70’s having a true Rock ‘N’ Roll sound, while still drawing from influences of Irish culture such as traditional Irish music, and Lynott’s lyrics, which commonly drew on his working-class experiences in inner-city Dublin. The band are linked and associated with the city of Dublin, with Phil Lynott himself immortalised in a bronze statue outside of the famous Dublin rock pub Bruxelles.
Thin Lizzy Exhibition
In 2017, a monumental moment in rock history unfolded when Philomena Lynott generously donated a treasure trove of Phil Lynott memorabilia to The Irish Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum. This remarkable collection, showcasing the legacy of the legendary Thin Lizzy frontman, includes rare artefacts, personal items, and iconic pieces that celebrate Phil Lynott’s extraordinary career and impact on rock music.
