Photographer raffling his unique Glen Hansard Art Piece For Saint Vincent Depaul

We’re quite big fans of Glen Hansard here at The Irish Rock Museum. First of all there are the Frames, a solid Irish band that we rave about to everyone. Then there’s Once, one of our favourite movies, well, our own Sun Studios appears in the Movie and it’s an Oscar Winner so of course we’re very proud of that little movie. And now we have another Glen Hansard story for our little Rock ‘n’ Roll Museum courtesy of photographer Bob Dixon. Bob, a very talented photographer whose work you can see here.

He has worked in the Irish music scene for over 15 years and capture a lot of Irish artists in a very unique way. Through the years he has created some bespoke pieces of artwork around many artists but there’s a very special piece created around  Glen Hansard that we’re going to ask you to donate some of your hard earned cash too!

About Bob’s Glen Hansard Art Piece

Below is a rather unique piece of artwork that is due to be raffled off to raise some seriously needed funds for Irish charity Saint Vincent De Paul. You can help raise money here.

We spoke with Bob about the piece and we got a bit of history behind the piece. In his own words “Having worked with Glen through the years I decided to document his iconic guitar “horse” which with its worn out features shows the mileage a musician must do and with such passion! The shoot was before Glen performed at the 10 birthday party of the Ruby sessions in Doyle’s..soon after I took these photos I was shooting Damien Rice and Glen busking on a street at the back of Doyle’s which I also captured. ”

The art is the second of its kind with the first being raffled off in 2013 at after a gig in Hansard’s hometown of Ballymun. It’s from a collaboration Bob did with Glen Hansard including two photos Bob took and some strings from Glen Hansard’s guitar. It’s a really cool piece of memorabilia, and a really cool idea to raise money for charity. Place your support here
